Soup and Saturday Mornings
Share
Before the brand, before the screens and shirts, there were Saturday mornings.
While the rest of the city still slept, my friends and I would pile into a car around 6 a.m. — half-awake, music low, and hearts full. The trunk would be loaded with soup, water bottles, bananas, socks, and whatever old jackets we could find in our closets. We weren’t part of any organization. No one told us to do it. We just knew people were out there — sleeping under bridges, sitting by storefronts — and we wanted to show up for them.
We’d drive through the quiet streets, stopping when we saw someone stirring from sleep or wandering with their head down. We’d hand out a cup of soup, a banana, a smile, a few words. Sometimes it was silent — just a nod or a “God bless.” Sometimes it turned into real conversations. You’d be surprised how a simple pair of socks could spark a story about someone’s past life, their kids, or their dreams.
Then the pandemic hit. Everything stopped. The streets got emptier, but the need didn’t go away. We had to pause those mornings — but the memory of them never left. That time taught me something deeper than charity. It taught me connection.
When I built Strofi, I built it with that same spirit — showing through action, creativity, and expression. Strofi isn’t just about clothes; it’s about community. About seeing people. About flipping the script on how we move through the world — with empathy, style, and purpose.
Tomorrow, we start again.
Same mission. Same energy.
Soup and love — just people helping people.
If you ever see us out early on a Saturday, that’s what we’re doing. Bringing warmth back to the streets. One act of love at a time.
